Nigeria has been making some headlines because of kidnapping and murder of Christians. It has partially been accredited to their government’s weak security and lack of ability to maintain order. The fact that the faction who is committing genocidal acts also controls the country is not lost on me. It should be no surprise that they are allowed to do what they desire, with little worry of someone stopping them.
First off this is a bad situation and I don’t wish it upon any group. I know that the US is threatening action, but no group coming from outside to a foreign country is going to help anyone immediately. Nor is one strike likely to do anything more than show the American people people how much we care. With no long term change being remotely likely.
We can look at these incidents as a case study and ask if that can happen here. I would say there already is a strong desire from certain groups to cause chaos in the country now. A few weeks ago, a mob stormed a church in Minnesota and threatened violence on the people in attendance. I am sure it was a very emotionally charged event and I’m surprised violence did not break out from either side. It certainly could have become much worse and with the radicalization our country is going through it is a matter of time before it does get worse.
Going back to the post about Mutual Assistance Groups (MAGs). If these communities want to stay safe, they need to organize now. The first step is to make a plan addressing the likely actions a threat would take against them, and how they will keep as many people as possible safe based on those scenarios. The second step is to develop a system to recognize a potential threat as soon as possible. Thereby speeding your OODA loop and making decisions resulting in action more rapidly. Next, I would practice and implement them.
The world is changing, and with all the files recently released, I would guess the sickos in charge will try to use chaos and distraction to keep power.
Remember Jesus is the light through the darkness. Lean on him first and always.
