Second Guessing

If you haven’t watched much news, then I applaud you. If you got sucked into it for the few days like I have, you will have noticed the military members are expressing fear over doing their job.

First the four politicians and their polished delivery gave a speech saying not to follow illegal orders. Then the strike on the boat everyone is claiming was a war crime. It all seems conveniently timed. The military already knew they weren’t required to follow illegal orders. The problem is, these politicians are implying illegal orders are being given in their opinions, and in this modern world truth doesn’t matter as much as an opinion spoken loud and often.

This happened to the law enforcement world after Ferguson. Cops were afraid to do their jobs because they knew their management would throw them under the bus, if their job happened to not be popular that day. Cops left the job in droves.

The same mindset could and appears to be forced on our military now, if they become afraid to do their jobs and follow orders. It will make their enemies’ job much easier.

Hesitation gets you hurt or killed in a use of force. This is because once you figure out someone is trying to cause you great bodily harm or kill you, that person already has the upper hand of speed and action. You are now literally in a fight for your life and further delays give the person more opportunity to do you harm.

Same goes for the concealed carry crowd. Know the rules governing you, think scenarios through beforehand to practice proper responses, attend force on force training. That is not the time to hesitate. Planning and thought beforehand will go a long way in keeping your actions correct.

Hopefully it doesn’t become an issue for our war fighters.
