Yesterday my wife read two articles about people waiting way too long to make an attempt at keeping their children safe. The first case involved a parent and child sitting in a car in the parking lot. Someone walked up to the parked car and after a short exchange of words this creatin tried several times to pull the child through the window of the car. The parent attempted to drive away at some point with the would-be kidnapper riding on the hood of the car.
The second incident occurred at a playground where a drone flew right up to the children and chased them around the playground. In both cases law enforcement was called. The would-be kidnapper was located a few blocks away. The drone had long since disappeared and a report was taken.
Now I would say modern society is conditioning you to be a victim and to wait for the government to save you. It is also conditioning you to allow people to push you around. Most people are more worried about offending a questionable individual than they are about their own safety. Part of this is because most people have lived in a safe bubble for their entire life. Unfortunately the world and the United States are no longer a safe place. Throughout the entire United States crime and even violent crime is being tolerated by the judicial system. This is more prevalent in blue areas but is becoming a major issue in red areas as well.
Here is the main point, if you see someone walking up to your kid’s window. Roll it up, move the vehicle, place yourself in between your loved ones and a potential threat. They are counting on you to keep them safe; do not rob them of that trust and do not let them get hurt! If someone is flying a drone at your kids, tell them to swat it to the ground while you try to catch it yourself. Give them direction while you yourself are trying to stop the problem.
Remember if someone is trying to hurt you with an object you have to protect yourself as if it were a person. Yes I am fully aware that this backward system could make you the aggressor, but that is because they value criminals over citizens. Also nothing I ever say is legal advice, see your lawyer for that.
Too many are concerned about the equipment you need to protect yourself. Yet they have no idea how to detect a fight is even about to happen or recognize they can avoid one. There is science to say that the “energy” people put off and/or the bad “feeling” you get around them, is real. Your intuition is right most of the time and you should trust that more than taking the time to make a perfect plan.
What do you think? Is this a topic you want covered more or a class on? It is a subject that I found fascinating to both learn and teach. One, that unfortunately, all of us will need at some point in our lives.
